CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE PARTICIPATING IN Miracles of Mitch by Julie Kiefer Victoria, Minnesota
Congratulations to Carly, J.J., and Amy Swenson, children of Jay and Missy Swenson of Victoria! Working together they raised over $1,000 for Miracles of Mitch, a foundation conceived in 2003 that helps families of children with cancer. Mitchel Chepokas was a boy from Chanhassen whose life was cut short by cancer at the age of 9. Before he died he made his dad promise to help families of kids with cancer when he’d be gone. On Saturday, August 16th, Miracles of Mitch hosted a triathlon at Lake Ann Park in Chanhassen. A whopping 796 kids showed up to publicly give their support for other children who fight cancer. They swam, biked, and ran with the name of a cancer patient written on their legs. Within this sea of swim caps, I was able to spot a few great kids from Victoria who were participating, in addition to the Swensons. I also threw in a couple other photos for your enjoyment and that of the great readers of the Victoria Gazette. The kids all did a fantastic job.
