A new law went into effect while we were in New Orleans that requires their restaurants to certify if the fish and seafood they serve come from the waters of New Orleans or if it’s being shipped in from somewhere else such as the fish farms of China where they’re often swimming together like sows in slop and infected with feces or injected with hormones to speed the growth of their fatty flesh. Sound delicious to you?

Well, I’d rather eat a fish caught with a hook and a net than farmed faraway. And I’d rather use the fishhook that I hide each month in the Victoria Gazette than any of those in my tackle box. Oops. I don’t have a tackle box. It’s a good thing I have a newspaper for those fishhooks!

Last month I hid the hook around the head and below the mane of the lion’s head on page 39. Lots of little minnows were dropped into the bucket but I could only pull one of them out of the deep waters. Congratulations, Barbara Johnson of Sacred Heart, Minnesota, for you will receive the ten dollar prize, enough to buy a pound of fresh fish or seafood. Just be sure you read the label first.
