PROPOSING 92 VILLAS FOR VICTORIA PLUS 71 TOWNHOMES ON LANO-BURAU PROPERTY Council reviewed a brand new sketch plat for the Lano-Burau property at the southeast corner of Hwy 5 and Kochia Lane. For years it was the home and farmland property of Tony and Sally Kerber, parents of Joanne Lano and Joyce Burau.
VICTORIA CONTINUES SOUTHWEST GROWTH DEVELOPMENT PLANS UPDATED Council adopted and approved the updated AUAR for the Victoria Southwest Area Master Plan on August 24th. This is in anticipation of continued development in that part of Victoria. It stands for Alternative Urban Areawide Review.
LAKETOWN 9TH FINALLY APPROVED SOME HOMES IN VICTORIA SIT SIDEWAYS On August 10th Council saw different home configurations possible at the Laketown 9th Addition, including those new homes planned for Carriage Drive, and also a location for neighborhood playground equipment that was amenable to Victoria Elementary School because it wasn't immediately adjacent to the school's playground area.
RESIDENT UNHAPPY WITH MEDIACOM LOOKING FOR A REMEDY IN VICTORIA Dick Hawley, a resident at Zumbra Ridge, spoke to councilmembers on August 24th during the Open Forum. "I was asked by my neighborhood to come in," he said. "There is overall dissatisfaction with the service of Mediacom. We want to give you a brief description of what we've been going through. There is strong dissatisfaction."
MEDIACOM VP VISITS VICTORIA TAKEN TO TASK AT CITY COUNCIL MEETING After Bill Jensen, Vice President at Mediacom, referred to stats and presented slide information about Mediacom on August 24th, Councilmember Jim Crowley stated, "You're glossing over the point by telling us how good your technicians are. Your slides indicate that your position is, 'This is what you get, and this is as good as you're going to get.'"
VICTORIA’S INVESTING OF $1.3 MILLION ABLY MANAGED BY KELLY GRINNELL Mayor Tom O'Connor took an item off the August 24th consent agenda in order to show the complexity of what Finance Manager Kelly Grinnell deals with on behalf of the City of Victoria, in regard to the city's investment policy.
ONE10 SUPERINTENDENT VISITS VICTORIA KEEPING LINES OF COMMUNICATION OPEN Pat Devine, Superintendent of Waconia School District 110, spoke to Victoria city councilmembers on August 24th. "I want to keep an open communication," he said. "We feel a great partnership here."
RESIDENT ASKS FOR ONLY ONE HAULER CURRENTLY SEVEN LICENSED IN VICTORIA Debra Kaye, a resident at South Lake Virginia Shores since 1987, asked city councilmembers to license only one garbage hauler in the city. She spoke during the Open Forum of the August 24th city council meeting.
TOM VOGT COMPLETES COUNCIL TAKES OATH OF OFFICE FOR HARD WORK Tom Vogt was sworn in as a Victoria City Councilmember on Monday evening, August 10th, to fill the seat vacated earlier this spring by the resignation of Joe Pavelko. The oath of office was administered by City Attorney Bob Vose.
