COUNCIL AGREES ON EQUAL ASSESSMENTS AT DEER RUN EXCEPT FOR GREEN CREST Council voted 5-0 on August 24th to give direction to staff in responding to questions about estimated assessments for street improvements at Deer Run: Green Crest Townhomes $3,200/unit; the rest of Deer Run homes $5,400/unit; the golf course $48,600.
VICTORIA MAKES THREE TOP 10 LISTS OTHERS RECOGNIZE THE CITY OF LAKES & PARKS "We're not the only ones to recognize our nice city," said Community Development Director Ben Landhauser on August 10th, directing attention to three different recent listings. Stated Mayor Tom O'Connor, "Three independent evaluations! This is a pretty darn nice place to live."
REVIEWING DRAFT 2016 CITY BUDGET ALL NUMBERS ARE ESTIMATES AT THIS POINT Finance Manager Kelly Grinnell presented an update on the 2016 city budget. "This is probably one of the most difficult budgets I've ever worked on," she said, citing a number of big one-time expenditures this year.
VICTORIA REPLACES 2005 JEEP LIBERTY WITH A NEW CHEVY PICKUP TRUCK Council voted 5-0 on August 10th to purchase a 2015 Chevy Colorado from Lenzen Chevrolet for $26,314 and sell the city's 2005 Jeep Liberty at the auction house. The Jeep has been part of the Building Department along with a 2011 Ford Escape.
PRIORITY PROJECTS ON VICTORIA’S TABLE RECLAIMING GIVES STREETS ANOTHER 20 YEARS Council held a workshop on August 10th to get a staff update on street maintenance and capital improvement projects. Said City Manager Laurie Hokkanen, "Basically there are three major projects on the horizon."
DESIGNING MARSH LAKE ROAD IN VICTORIA $300,000 TO BE SPLIT WITH CARVER COUNTY Council approved an expenditure of $150,000 on August 10th for preliminary design work to improve Marsh Lake Road, currently a gravel road.
SHORTER SCOOP FROM AUGUST GETTING MORE GAS AT VICTORIA STATION Council approved site and signage improvements at the Commercial Avenue business as it converts from a four fueling stall Marathon Station to a six fueling stall Shell Station. Parking spaces at the site will decrease from 28 to 23. Said Mayor O'Connor to proprietor Deep Baveja, "This will be a nice upgrade for the property." |
