Labor Day. Monday, September 4th. Always the first Monday in September, a federal holiday celebrating the economic and social contributions of workers. First celebrated in 1882 in New York City. Celebrated by most Americans today as the symbolic end of summer.
School Begins. In Carver County, Tuesday, September 5th. (September 6th for kindergarten students.)
Classic Car Nights. Wednesdays, September 6th and September 20th. In downtown Victoria.
Full Moon. Wednesday, September 6th. The moon is fully illuminated as seen from earth. At Full Moon, the moon and sun are on a line with earth in between, as though the moon and sun are sitting on either end of a seesaw.
Grandparents Day. Sunday, September 10th. Always celebrated the first Sunday after Labor Day. A secular holiday in the USA and the UK since 1978.
Patriots Day. Monday, September 11th. The annual observance of September 11th, 2001, to remember those who were injured or died in the terrorist attack on the United States of America, in memory of the 2,977 killed as four planes were hijacked and two flew into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center.
Autumn Begins. Friday, September 22nd. Called the fall equinox, it marks the day of the year when the sun crosses the celestial equator, making the day and the night the same length.
City Council Meetings. Monday, September 11th, and Monday, September 25th. 6:30 p.m. at City Hall on Stieger Lake Lane.
