You don't catch a shark with shrimp for bait. But you can catch a shark with a fish that swallowed your shrimp bait. That's how the shark on the front page of this paper was caught. The shark had made a pass at a mackerel caught on Jenny's line and left bloody teeth scrapes on it. When the bloody mackerel was then used as bait, the shark was caught. Christopher reeled in both the shark and the bloody mackerel dangling outside his mouth. You can see the pictures in Sue's Album. It was quite a good day under the sun, on the ocean.

And today is also quite a good day under the sun, on land in Victoria. The snow is disappearing, reminding us there is green grass and puddles of water waiting for us. Our windows aren't open yet so I'm not hearing the birds, but that too shall come to pass. Yeah, spring!

And, yeah, Andrea Schinze! Many, many of you wrote this last month to tell me you found the fishhook wrapped around the telephone of the Birthright ad on page 32 in the March issue of the Gazette. But only Andrea Schinze of Victoria had her name pulled from the minnow bucket. The ten dollars will be on its way shortly!

Unlike with the many mackerel caught off Marco Island, only one of you gets pulled out of my minnow bucket each month. Doesn't matter if you're a heavyweight or a lightweight, a good swimmer or a poor swimmer, or if your skin is wrinkled or taut. Doesn't matter if you live here or there, if you drive a car or ride a bike, or if you're an athlete or a couch potato. This is an equal opportunity column. Everyone who emails or writes has a chance to make the bucket list.
