Dedicated to the sunshine of truth, the moonshine of meeting deadlines, and the starshine of Victoria. |
To the Editor: Great paper, Mom. Very good. I liked Dad's letter to the editor about the horse, your column From the Editor (I hadn't heard lots of those "Did you hear" things) also the quotes about hot chocolate and the cat's eyes that coordinate with Addie's drawing, Picking the Mayor's Mind, and I even found the fishhook on page 23. Of course, your feature story on the Oil Patch was fabulous and I liked the nice picture of Nick and my nieces. Hope your trip to Savannah is terrific. We're on our way to Red Lodge and the ski slopes at Yellowstone. Love, Jenny Tioga, North Dakota
To the Editor: "America" is still "America" in Victoria, thanks to you! Jim and Linda Flannery Shorewood, Minnesota
To the Editor: Not all lakes are created equal and that is certainly the case with the more than 11,000 lakes in Minnesota. While deep clear lakes may be considered the ideal, the benefits of shallow lakes should not be overlooked. The contributions of these unique resources and the challenges of managing them will be discussed at "The Benefits of Being Shallow," a forum on Saturday, April 12th, from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the MN Landscape Arboretum. Anyone who lives on or near a shallow lake or would like to learn more about how to properly care for shallow lakes is welcome to attend. Shallow lakes, which average 15 feet or less in depth, account for about one-third of the lakes in Minnesota. Telly Mamayek MN Creek Watershed District
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. We enjoy your paper very much. Keep up the good work. Carol Weinzierl St. Bonifacius, Minnesota
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. I really appreciate your paper. Read it from cover to cover. When I pull it out of the mailbox, it's a half mile long! Very informative column "From the Editor." Thanks so very much. Kathy Brose Waconia, Minnesota
To the Editor: The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has upgraded the severity and geographic range of the air pollution health advisory issued yesterday, March 6th. In the eastern two-third of Minnesota, air quality conditions are considered unhealthy for sensitive groups. Strong temperature inversions, snow melt, and morning fog are trapping fine particle pollution near the surface across much of the state today. Air quality conditions are expected to improve as a slow moving frontal system passes over Minnesota. Ralph Pribble MN Pollution Control Agency
To the Editor: Thanks again for another year of free publicity for Birthright and pro-life causes. We continue to enjoy the Victoria Gazette, best newspaper around. Aldean and Dan Steinhagen Waconia, Minnesota
To the Editor: Thank you for a wonderful paper. Jeanne Millet Eden Prairie, Minnesota
To the Editor: I have often wondered if you have ever thought of leaving the fishhook out of the April issue of the Gazette as an April Fool's Joke. There are times when it takes me several passes through the paper to locate it, and that got me thinking. Perhaps this suggestion is prank enough. I understand there is a fine line between a well-devised prank and a grievous offense, and it is surely narrowing. Makes one appreciate, all the more, a nice crafted, humorous ploy. Tom Struthers Victoria, Minnesota
