HAPPY 65TH, RON AND HARRIET. Ron and Harriet Holtmeier moved from Victoria to Westview Acres in Waconia in the fall of 2012. In March of 2013, Ron was elected King of Westview, thus the crown on this file photo. Their daughter Pam Thierolf of Pennsylvania informs readers of the Gazette that there will be an Open House on Sunday, August 7th, 2016, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Westview to celebrate her parents' 65th wedding anniversary. They were married on August 25th, 1951, which also happens to be Ron's birthday, his 86th this year. Writes Pam, "Ron and Harriet kindly request no gifts. If you cannot make it to Waconia, please send them a card. Their address is 433 West 5th Street, Apt.#320, Waconia, MN 55387."
HUSKIN' CORN IN VICTORIA. How many people know that sweet corn is still grown and husked in Victoria? It's true. It's grown by Jerry Michel and husked by both Jerry and his wife before they give most of it away to friends. They husk the corn so they can keep the husks and feed it their cattle who eat it like candy. Yes, there are also grown and fed in Victoria. It's all happening on 78th Street, about a mile east of downtown Victoria. Nan Emmer (the one in the middle) Victoria, Minnesota
ANNUAL LAKEBRIDGE KIDS PARADE. We have a very active community. The Lakebridge neighborhood is completed with all new home building. Lakebridge is now 187 homes. We consist of couples, empty nesters, and families that bring into our community many little kiddos. In addition to the 4th of July Kid Parade, Lakebridge Homeowners Association organizes a Spring Egg Hunt, Ice Cream Socials, Annual Block Party, Pumpkin Painting for Kids, as well as a Fall Chili Cook-Off for the Adults. I believe we had over 100 kids that participated in the 4th of July Parade this year. Each family decorates their wheels -- bike wheels, big wheel, stroller wheels, etc. The leader of the parade usually has music playing too. We have a Social Committee included in our HOA that plans and executes all the social events. Juanita Groppetti Victoria, Minnesota
