MINNESOTA 52. I live in Watermark in Victoria, and I've been teaching knitting for the Carver County Library System and local yarn stores for a number of years. Two years ago I decided to write a knitting pattern book. We've called it Minnesota 52:16 Knits Inspired by the Road because we travel that road to get back and forth to one anther where we then go to knitting events around the country. Did you know there are more knitters in the United States than there are golfers? It's just that they're not in public so people often don't know about it. It's been much fun to write up stories that we included in the book, telling tales about adventures of knitters from all over. We've met many wonderful, passionate knitters in our travels and we wanted the book to represent those people. The press release and back cover of the book: Cori Eichelberger and Megan Williams are Minnesotans who travel Hwy 52 back and forth to see each other and attend knitting events. Their travel shenanigans inspired this book of knitting patterns. The book also represents a movement currently taking place for handcrafters. Friends have begun traveling together to retreats, festivals, conventions, or just weekends away to share a passion for knitting. The exquisite photography in Minnesota 52 by Gale Zucker appeals to knitters young and old. We invite you to join us in casting on 16 easy to knit clever designs! EARNING A PLACE IN THE 2017 STATE GAMES OF AMERICA. The Chaska Figure Skating Club is proud to be representing three skaters, all from Victoria, in the 2017 State Games of America to be held August 2nd to 6th in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The three skaters are Ava Hukriede, Grace Matvik, and Lauren Gizinski. The State Games of America is a biennial amateur multi-sport event held in North America. The National Congress of State Games (NCSG) is a membership organization comprised of 30 Summer State Games and 10 Winter State Games organizations and a member of the United States Olympic Committee's Multi-Sport Organizational Council. The mission of the NCSG is to support State Games member organizations in the promotion of health, fitness, and character building through multi-sport competitions and physical activities. Athletes typically qualify for the Games by earning a medal in their respective State Games in the previous two years. Typically, over 12,000 athletes compete in the Games each time they are held. Ava Hukriede has been skating with the Chaska Figure Skating Club for two years and will be in the 6th grade at Chaska Middle School East in the fall of 2017.
