How many of you fisherman out there ever hooked a lutefisk? Just what I thought. The creature is a little too slippery for you, huh? If you use less melted butter, it’s easier to keep it on your hook, I mean your fork. On the other hand, and it’s good we’ve got two of them, I prefer a spoon. Then slipperiness isn’t a factor.

I had hoped to attend the annual Lutefisk Feed at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church this year, but the Victoria Lions are holding their annual Christmas dinner party on the same evening, Friday, December 4th. The Lutefisk feed begins at 3 p.m. so there’s time to hit both gatherings, but that would be gluttony which is one of the seven deadly sins so I won’t go there. Go where? You’ll know when you see me in the food line.

In the meantime, I dipped into the minnow bucket and pulled out Marlaine Gnan of Norwood Young America. She located the fishhook in the last issue of the Gazette hiding in the branches of the Waterbrooke Fellowship ad. The ten-dollar winnings should arrive just in time to buy another stocking stuffer. Congratulations, Marlaine.

And now the fishhook is hiding somewhere else in this issue of the Gazette. Hope you can find it. If so, drop a line to Sue@VictoriaGazette.com or sinker in the mail to P.O. Box 387, Victoria, MN 55386, telling of its location. Then you’ll be splashed into the minnow bucket until the end of the year! If I pull you out before January 1st, you breathe again. If not, you go down the drain with all the others.

By the way, if you’re going to hook some lutefisk at the Minneapolis campus of Mount Olivet, you can also reel in Swedish meatballs, rutabagas, boiled potatoes, pickled beets, limpa rye bread, condiments, rice pudding with Lingonberries, milk, and water. Only $15. Think of me when the lutefisk is slippering about your plate.
