GAZETTE

December 2010

To the Editor:

Our local CAP Agency has recently launched its 27th annual Give Where You Live fundraising campaign.  This year’s goal is set at $250,000.

As Carver County Commissioners, we are appointed to serve on a variety of committees and boards of organizations that provide service to our county and its residents.  It has been our privilege to serve on the Board of Directors of the CAP Agency, representing the needs and interests of Carver County residents.

We have seen firsthand the quality of services provided by the CAP Agency as well as the efficient and effective management of the agency.  The CAP Agency is truly a good steward of the funds it receives.  Ninety-four cents (94¢) of every dollar received is spent on direct services to residents in need.

Even though Carver County is often cited as having one of the highest per capita incomes in Minnesota, statistics still show that 4.7% of our children are living in poverty.  Over 7,000 Carver County residents received help from the CAP Agency in the past year.

The CAP Agency provides a wide range of services including Senior Dining, Meals on Wheels, Head Start, WIC, food shelf, housing, and homeless prevention services, weatherization and energy assistance.  CAP works to keep people safe and warm and then plan for a brighter future.

The mission of the CAP Agency is to assist and empower people to achieve social and economic wellbeing by providing services in partnership with our communities.

Please consider a generous donation to Give Where You Live.  You will be helping your neighbors.  Investing in CAP is investing in your community.
