VICTORIA CONTINUES TO GROW

WITH 56 NEW HOME PERMITS IN 2010

Holly Kreft, Victoria’s Community Development Director, presented a summary report on the 2010 activities of the Victoria Planning Commission.  Members of the Commission include: James Donadio, Michelle Siegert, Tom Vogt, Jeffrey Loeschen, and Grant Peterson.

According to the report, the City of Victoria issued 56 new residential building permits in 2010 including single family homes (46) and townhomes (10).  Population of Victoria in 2010 is estimated at 6,802 people and 2,332 households.

No new plats were approved in 2010; there are 185 vacant lots/units available within Victoria today.  Over 3/4 of those vacant lots are located within three subdivisions:  Madelyn Creek (71), Rhapsody (49), and Krey Lakes (19).  The latter two subdivisions are owned by national builders -- Lennar and D. R. Horton, respectively.

In 2010 the Planning Commission reviewed 92 permits:  zoning (30), decks (40), signs (13), trees/noxious weeds (9).  They held 18 meetings and canceled six meetings due to lack of agenda items.
