To the Editor: My sister, manager at Wayzata Wine and Spirits, is helping me put on a Wine Tasting, an evening of fine food and wine at Island View Dining in support of St. Joseph Catholic School scholarships on January 21st. The evening offers the opportunity to taste over 100 wines, complimented by delectable hors d’oeuvres. Wander among the wines from throughout the world while enjoying the fellowship of our community. The price is right: $15. Please forward to anyone who wants to come. Hope to see you there. In water one sees one’s own face, but in wine one beholds the heart of another. (Old French Proverb). Kim Heenie Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: You’re invited to “Girlz Only” Pajama Party at Floyd’s on January 30th. This event is an after-the-holidays Funday Sunday. Indulge in a mimosa, a scrumptious champagne breakfast buffet from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and browse all the fine goodies we will have for you -- jewelry, skincare, and makeup products on display. Doesn’t get any better, does it? Hope to see you. Lois Plocher Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Happy New Year to you. I hope you will be able to accommodate the attached letter, even if it slightly exceeds usual guidelines for word count. I expect we all would appreciate maximum access to our government. I, for one, expect it. If we are unable to attend actual meetings of the Carver County Board of Commissioners, we should at the very least be able to watch a full uncut and realistic representation of what our elected officials are doing in our name. Frank Long Watertown, Minnesota
To the Editor: Could I have an electronic copy of the pictures you took Monday night at the Victoria City Council meeting? My wife was there to take a picture but our camera malfunctioned. Councilmember Jim Crowley Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Happy Valentine’s Day. Looking at a scrapbook from my younger days, I came across a class list from either 2nd or 3rd grade when I was briefly attending Chaska Elementary. I flunked 1st grade at Guardian Angels. I got to go to 2nd grade -- but at Chaska Elementary. Two years of those annoying boys from kindergarten at Chaska Elementary was enough, but then get stuck with them for both 2nd and 3rd grade? Eeew! I was back at G.A. from 4th to 8th grade and then comes 9th grade, 1980, at Chaska High School. Not again! Hard to believe those annoying ones grew up and got married and divorced, bald, fat, gray. I remember some with freckles, big dopey ears, and total misfits. Some fish on page 33 of the January Gazette will have to go back to school, since the fishhook is on those books in the KleinBank ad, or else they’ll be suspended on Fr. Conran Schneider’s hook! Happy Birthday to Tanta Schneider, Dad’s sister. Does anyone have Bob Fessler’s phone number or address? My mom’s Grandma Catherine Poppler was a Fessler. I don’t have any family history of the Fessler family. My mom was Rose Poppler. Joe and Theresa were her folks. Kay Meuwissen Chaska, Minnesota
To the Editor: We love the Gazette and always enjoy all the pictures you include. Pete and Anne Hackert Victoria, Minnesota
