I’ve never met anybody with Victoria connections at the annual Torske Klubben event held each January at the Interlaken County Club in Edina. It’s the only time that ladies are invited to this all men’s club that requires, for membership, Norwegian heritage, special invitation, and a certain fondness for Norwegian Cod and Flatbread. Allan is mostly Norwegian, and it happens that I’m partly Norwegian.

Well, this past Saturday, January 8th, 2011, I met someone at Torske Klubben with a Victoria connection: Joanne Lano. Joanne is the daughter of Tony and Sally Kerber and the sister of Joyce Burau of Victoria. Yes, there was a German Kerber at this Norwegian gathering! Joanne and her husband John Lyngdal, a relatively new member of the club, live in Eden Prairie. Fun to meet you, Joanne. I’m glad you read my name tag and found it familiar.

For those who read the Gazette regularly, this column and the hidden fishhook are familiar. Last month I hid it in that stack of books in the KleinBank ad on page 33. When I delved into the minnow bucket of entries for the monthly drawing, I pulled out Kay Meuwissen of Chaska. Congratulations, Kay! I’m happy you won. The $10 prize will soon be on its way to you.
