To the Editor: To celebrate the 2010 holiday season, we recently hosted a “Peace, Joy, and Pampering” event at Salon Spatoria for our dental team. Our intentions were to provide an afternoon of complete pampering with everything from relaxing salon services to gourmet appetizers and wine so each team member could feel just how important and special they are to us. The outcome was absolutely amazing. Our co-hosts and salon owners, Melissa Hanson, Kathryn Paradise, and Robin Robey, along with Andrea, Alissa, and Tara, did all they could to provide our ladies with the experience they deserved. Sandy, with Fresh Seasons Market deli, created a wonderful spread, some which included selections from their gourmet fruit and cheese, antipasto, and handmade foccacia sandwiches. The final touches came from Cindy Poppitz and Paul Schindler, owners of Crossroads Liquor, with their fine wine selections from which Cindy graciously conducted a wine tasting. All together, the event was truly outstanding, celebrated camaraderie, and enjoyed by all. Many thanks to Salon Spatoria, Fresh Seasons, and Crossroads Liquor for helping to personalize our holiday event while exceeding our expectations. Drs. To the Editor: Hi, Sue. The item in your January issue, “Remember when all the girls wore skirts and dresses to school,” certainly was a trip down memory lane! Along with my brother Butch (Danny Schwalbe) and my mother Girlinda (Clarence) Schwalbe, I was in the Victoria Public School 1946 school picnic picture. Most of the time there were five in our class -- three girls and two boys. Carol Holtmeier, also in the picture, and Rita Plocher, not pictured, were the three girls who went from grades 1 through 8 together and then to Waconia High School; and we still keep in touch now. I am one of only a couple girls in the picture not in a dress. But for me, that all changed once I started school. My clothes were sewn by my mother who made sure I always had “skirts and dresses” to wear to Victoria Public School District 16. Thank you, Virginia Hedtke Stowe, for the pictures and thank you, Editor Sue, for printing the pictures of the good old days in Victoria. Carol (Schwalbe) Pratt Tower, Minnesota
