LOOKING AT AN ENTIRE CITY BLOOK IN DOWNTOWN VICTORIA Council voted 5-0 on January 25th to authorize WSB & Associates to complete preliminary design phase services for parking and pedestrian improvements in the vicinity of the city-owned Rose Street Parking Lot. Formerly the site of the Victoria Village Hall and Fire Barn, both of which were demolished in the summer of 2015, a temporary gravel surface has since made parking possible in that area. Reported City Engineer Cara Geheren, "A number of things have changed on that block. There are new property owners. In light of the changes, we're looking with a longer term vision. There are drainage challenges to consider." She pointed in particular to a high spot and a utility pole.
