         A presentation on the parking study is expected to take place soon, perhaps at the February 25th city council meeting.

         The annual appointments are a polite transmission as councilmembers communicate which positions they would prefer.

VICTORIA PROPERTY WAS ASSESSED FOR THREE UNITS

         Three sewer stubs were provided to the property back in 2013.  This would be the third and final lot.  Nearby property owners do not object.

 

VICTORIA SIDEWALKS AND CROSSWALKS

ARE NOT ADA COMPLIANT, ESPECIALLY DOWNTOWN

         Consulting firm conducted a study and found about $ 200,000 worth of potential repairs.  ADA requirements are regularly changed.

 

FOUR CANDIDATES FOR VICTORIA CITY MANAGER

COUNCIL WILL CHOOSE ONE IN FEBRUARY

         The consulting search firm received 47 applications.  Interviews by three panels will be conducted February 8th and 9th.

         Said Deb McMillan, “I think this is a hard job.  There’s a lot to learn.  I think the four-year term was selected for a lot of good reasons.

         Dean Dovolis and DJR Architects were given 120 days to do their studies and decide if they want to develop then city-owned property.

 

PURCHASES FOR FIRE AND PUBLIC WORKS

FOR VICTORIA TO REMAIN SAFE AND MAINTAINED

         Council approves $321,050 for 22 new self contained breathing packs and accessories, $44,355 for a new 3/4 ton pick truck and $98,190 plus $135,891 for a 2020 dump truck and box, plow, and attachments.

 

VICTORIA ARRIVES AT UNANIMOUS DECISION

TO BUILD WASSERMANN LAKEFRONT PARK

         Council approves new cooperative agreement with the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District and authorized a design scope for the park.

BIG ROAD STUDIES CONTEMPLATED FOR VICTORIA

         Said City Engineer Cara Geheren, “We’ll soon see another joint powers agreement to address improvements to Hwy 5 west to the DQ.”

         The Marie Steiner Kelting Mental Wellness Center at Bavaria Road is expected to be completed and open in early November 2019.
