The Victoria GAZETTE |
July 2010 |
To the Editor: First I read “More Scoop at Victoria City Hall” and then “Whose Town is this Anyway?” in the June issue of the Gazette and I’m so thankful to Kim Roden for making us aware of injustices to our neighbors the Nelsons and Corwins as Phase One horrors of the sewer project still haunt them. “Do unto others” seems to have not been demonstrated by the Metropolitan Council and our City Council. I am not an engineer or politician but know these people deserve solutions now. Thank you for standing up for our neighbors on Smithtown Road. Thank you for being outrageous, and thanks, Sue, for covering the “minutes of messiness in the Council Chamber!” Lydia Holsten Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Drove by church and noticed the new Madonna and Child and had to stop. Beautiful. And the location as well. Thank you. Jerry Schmieg Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: I enjoy the Gazette very much. I find it very interesting. Enclosed is my check for $20 for the year. Thank you. Mary Ann Young Chaska, Minnesota
To the Editor: The granite base for your Ave Maria here at St. Victoria is fabulous. I would say that you definitely got your money’s worth for quality and an enduring legacy. I can almost not even visualize Ave Maria on anything less elegant. Deacon Ray Ortman St. Victoria Catholic Church Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Hello, Sue. Thank you so much for sharing precious family time with us a few weeks ago. Your family couldn’t look better with all those little ones icing the cake. Little Mia stole my heart. I knew I could check on your website and see more photos, and I did. Then, more recently, I viewed “our” photo in the Gazette. So now I am reminded to ask for Jenny’s email because I want to keep in touch with news of their Tioga projects. Extend greetings to Allan. By the way, years ago Dennis attended a writing festival and was interviewed and quoted in Newsweek. He was described as peripatetic! Caravaggio? One of my favorites especially is the painting in one of the churches at the Piazza del Popola (how do you like those sounds?) which displays the Conversion of St. Paul. Thanks for stimulating fun memories with one little vocabulary article. Susan Boatman New Brighton, Minnesota
To the Editor: I am looking to get two copies of the June 2010 issue of the Victoria Gazette. Please let me know how I go about getting that. Thanks. Joanie Engler, Administrator S.M. Hentges & Sons, Inc. Jordan, Minnesota
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. As you say, another year! I did so enjoy the feature story on the journey of the statue of the Blessed Mother in the May issue of the Gazette. Sent it on to my cousin Father Gedety in South Dakota. Thank you. Betty Werner Delafield, Wisconsin
To the Editor: Hello, Sue. I would like to submit an article with a picture for the paper. I sent a similar article to the Gazette last year. It is in regard to area piano students playing in the MMTA Honors Concert. Would you consider including it the July Gazette? Thank you. Candie Sather Victoria, Minnesota
