To the Editor: The Chanhassen High School Storm Booster Club is again hosting the 3rd Annual Storm Chasers Golf Outing to help support the activities programs at the school. Thanks to the great businesses and people who supported the golf outing last year, we raised a net amount of $5,000. We have many ways in which you can contribute to this very worthy cause and please know that anything you can do will be very much appreciated by the students and parents that do business with you throughout the year. We understand that the economy has impacted many businesses and individuals this past year but the students attending the new high school still need your help. Please know that any and all donations are welcome. Thank you to Tom Abts and the Deer Run Golf Club for their support with this fundraising event. Eleanor Hennen, Even Chair Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: I know some of us don’t share the same political opinions, but I know that all of us love our wonderful land of the free and home of the brave. I’m 67 years old and I didn’t know that a second verse existed to the Star Spangled Banner, our national anthem. I just heard it online and its eloquence moved me to tears. Perhaps if people would sing this second verse as often as the first verse, the meaning of the entire song would move all to stand proudly again and place hands over hearts. The second verse: Oh, thus be it ever when free men shall stand between their loved homes and the war’s desolation. Blest with vict’ry and peace, may the heaven rescued praise the Power that had made and preserved us a nation! Then conquer we must, when our cause, it is just, and this be our motto: “In God is our trust!” And the star spangled banner in triumph shall wave, o’er the land of the free and the home of the brave. To the Editor: Kim Roden can count me as a backer of her activity as a Victoria City Councilmember. She is asking the questions that need to be asked, and trying to protect our citizens from being ignored. Sometimes one just has to step up and ask for the things are due them. I am proud that Kim chose to do so for our citizens. Jay Meiske Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Thank you for all your work on the great paper you put out each month. John Wilhoit Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: My name is Colleen Hebert and I have been a Victoria resident for going on eight years now. Every year (this is our 4th year) my husband and I host a charitable golf tournament at Deer Run Golf Club. Last night we were fortunate enough to have Devean George (an NBA player from Minnesota) put on a basketball clinic at the Victoria Recreation Center as part of our fundraiser. Troy at Roulette’s Pizza generously donated all the pizza for the evening and my husband and I would like to publicly thank him for his generosity. We thought a small note in the Gazette with possibly a picture of the clinic would be nice. How would I go about making this happen? I have also attached our letter so that you can get a better idea of what I’m talking about as far as the tournament goes. Please let me know what you think and thank you for your time and consideration. Colleen Hebert Victoria, Minnesota
