When Addie and Gunnar were ages 3 and 1, they cast their pink and blue fishing poles from my piano bench out into the living room and kitchen. Today at the ages of 6 and 4 they cast their orange and purple poles from their own front deck out toward the city sidewalk, trying to hit the city street. Seems those kids need a lake! And maybe they could use a real fishhook! Last month many of you found my “real” fishhook hidden on page 31 within the arm of Fred Flintstone in the Bryan Rock ad. After swishing everybody around in my minnow bucket, I pulled out the name of Robert Perry of Victoria. The ten dollar prize will be on its way to you shortly, Robert Perry. Congratulations. There’s another fishhook hidden in this issue of the Gazette. If you want to enter the drawing for July, email Sue@VictoriaGazette.com or drop a line to the Gazette at P.O. Box 387, Victoria, MN 55386 telling of the fishhook location, and sinker in the mail. With your entry in this Hook Line and Sinker contest, you’ve got a better chance of catching something than my little grandchildren sitting on my piano bench or standing on their front steps in Tioga, North Dakota, casting their lines with no hope of catching a thing, except that which lies in the imagination of childhood. Good luck to you, and keep casting out into the deep. |
