March 2010 |
To the Editor: Hi. Sue. Enjoy the paper very much. The fishhook is in the Century Wine Outlet ad on page 11 of the February Gazette. Keep up the good work. Ron Wagener Sales at Waconia Ford Waconia, Minnesota
To the Editor: My 4th grade class created a video about Haiti and the earthquake for our school to view and raised $1,381.96 to send to the American Red Cross and Doctors Without Borders. Newsworthy? Thank you. Kyle Kubitz, Teacher Victoria Elementary School Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Our newsprint supplier has announced an 8.29% increase on newsprint effective March 1st, 2010. Their original plan had been for monthly increases, similar to what we had in 2008. We will try to keep you updated as we hear from them, but it is continuing to be difficult to forecast with any certainty. Chris Boesche. Crow River Press Hutchinson, Minnesota
To the Editor: I am the cookie mom for Brownie Troop #13277, a fantastic group of third grade girls from Victoria and Jonathan Elementary Schools. We’ll be hosting a cookie booth at Fresh Seasons Market in Victoria on Saturday, February 27th. We have a new feature this year! As part of the Girl Scout Cookie Care program, our customers will have the opportunity to purchase boxes of cookies that will be shipped to troops in Afghanistan and Iraq, and the customers can even pick the name and location of the individual soldier and the type of cookies they want the solder to receive. Each soldier has a personal connection to Minnesota, as either a resident or a relative of a resident. Our Brownie Troop will pay for the cost of shipping the cookies to the troops with part of our proceeds from our cookie sales. If you have time for a photo and interview with the girls, they would love the attention, as would Fresh Seasons, which has done so much to support our brownie troop and the community in general. Thank you for your consideration. Cynthia Hegarty Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Keep up your good work. How nice that you put a picture in the Gazette of your grandchildren, all smiles. Happy Valentine’s Day. Marie Otten Waconia, Minnesota
To the Editor: It would be negligent, indeed, if we did not make some expression of appreciation to you for the time and effort you put into our Valentine article. It was enjoyable telling our story and going through photographs with you. It was a hoot, as a matter of fact! Thank you for considering us. We are amazed by the large number of people who have called, emailed, or approached us and expressed favorable comments about the article, even people we don’t know. The Victoria Gazette has a loyal readership. Additionally, this interview allowed us a firsthand glance to witness your hard work and dedication surface in fulfilling the demands of running your own business. The long hours and constant time commitment come with the profession, but how do you refuel your energy and your spirit? The success of the Victoria Gazette is a tribute to your hard work and perseverance. You have established a wonderful hometown newspaper and we congratulate you on your steadfast service to our community. Attawaytago! Also, seeing you and some of the St. Victoria Choir group at the Victoria House and hearing them sing happy birthday to Jayne was a genuine treat. Stan and Jayne Hamerski Victoria, Minnesota
