Daylight Savings Time. Begins Sunday, March 10th. The clocks are set ahead one hour during Spring Forward from 2 a.m. standard time to 3 a.m. daylight savings time. The main purpose of DST is to make better use of daylight and save energy in the summer months.

St. Patrick's Day. Sunday, March 17th. Commemorates the life of the great apostle of Ireland, Saint Patrick, and celebrates the Irish American culture in the United States.

First Day of Spring. Wednesday, March 20th. Around March 20th or 21st each year, when sunrise and sunset are about twelve hours apart everywhere on earth. Also called the vernal equinox, it's when the sun sits directly above the equator on its apparent trip northward. Of course, the sun isn't moving; the earth is.

Palm Sunday. March 24th. Marks the beginning of Holy Week. Commemorates the entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem, riding on a donkey and people greeting him with palm leaves.

City Council Meetings. Monday, March 11th, and Monday, March 25th. Scheduled for the second and fourth Mondays of each month, at 6:30 p.m.

Good Friday. Friday, March 29th. Commemorates the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ on the cross.

Easter Egg Hunt. Saturday, March 30th. By Poppitz Field/Lions Park. 9 a.m.

Easter. Sunday, March 31st. The greatest feast day. Celebrates the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Established as the first Sunday after the full moon following the vernal equinox of the northern hemisphere.
