To the Editor:

I certainly enjoyed your February issue.  Loved your granddaughter's art work.  Also the beautiful evergreen trees that decorate your backyard.

Here's something people my age would enjoy.  I turn 89 on February 21st.  A term I haven't heard in a long time is "fender skirts."  Other words have quietly disappeared from our language, like "curb feelers."  When did they turn "emergency brakes" into parking brakes?  When is the last time you made coffee with a "percolator"?

Your monthly Gazette is so much better than any weekly.  The Gazette is Victoria's newspaper.  Hope this finds you and also your mom and dad in good health.

         A devoted reader,

To the Editor:

We love what you do.  We love the Gazette.  Keep up the great work.  Thank you.  Found the fishhook on page 23 under the Guardian Angels Fish Fry.

To the Editor:

Good morning, Sue.  My family has enjoyed the Victoria Gazette since we moved to Katy Hills 24 years ago.  Victoria has been an amazing community to raise our kids, and an education for them at Holy Family Catholic High School was a blessing we did not foresee when we moved here.  I am now doing some marketing for HomeTown Bank, Waconia, and we would love to advertise in the Victoria Gazette.  I have reviewed ad requirements on your website and have the following questions for you:  Would you allow us to advertise?  If yes, how do you determine ad placement?  Thank you and have a great day.

To the Editor:

Thank you for the recent family pictures in your Album at VictoriaGazette.com.  Nice to see you all, and we found that your Mom and Dad are accustomed in their apartment at Boulder in Marshall.  Also found pictures of your lightened home in the snow, but there is a "but."  I prefer to see your home in the fall, surrounded by the colorful maple trees.  Cold greetings (-6 degrees Celsius) from Dilsen.

To the Editor:

Happy St. Patrick's Day.  Meuwissen is not an Irish name.  It's German and Dutch and means knowledge.  Dad's Grandpa came from Holland.  One of my brothers went to Germany and Holland and found a flowershop with the name spelled Meeuwissen, and he came across a phone book from Holland with Meeuwissen a-plenty -- like Minnesota loaded with Anderson, Peterson, or Larson.  Plenty of those in a Minneapolis phone book.

Happy B-Day to my dad Gene Meuwissen, 95 years old and still has his teeth and hair.  B-day greetings also to my twin brothers Dave and Dad born March 11th, 1954.  Dad was born March 10th, 1923.  He was 31 when Dave and Dad were born.  Mom was 27.  Mom one time said when the twins were born, Dad said not every baby is born with two heads.  When I was born, Mom was 38 and Dad was 41.  I was the 9th kid.  Number 10 was my little brother Gerry who will be 50 in September.  Ten kids would be expensive today.

To the Editor:

Our problems in America are not opioids, guns, pornography, or alcohol.  It's that we quit teaching, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."  We disposed of the second commandment that teaches love your neighbor as yourself.  We stopped teaching thou shalt not kill.  We took prayer out of schools and ripped the Ten Commandments off classroom walls.  Are we now better for it?
