My first trip down the aisles of Fresh Seasons Market in Victoria concluded with a full grocery cart. It was Thursday, April 2nd, 2009, the first day of the “soft opening.” Among the myriad of items I picked up that morning were two fresh tuna steaks which I fixed for our Friday dinner the next evening and Allan agreed it was the best ahi tuna we’ve ever had. Maybe you’d like my recipe which is a combination of standard ingredients you hear about on the food channel plus my own monkey business. Recipes are also available in modern cookbooks, of course, as well as online if you enjoy googling for things like that. I appreciated the tuna steaks from Fresh Seasons because they were not overly thick as I’ve purchased them in the past in other grocery stores. This column is not for your dining or recipe pleasure, however. This fishy column is for your spare time pleasure when you’re thinking about the fishhook that I hide in each issue of the Gazette. As you can see in the accompanying above artwork, I stuck the fishhook last month in the elbow of the suited man -- a butler, I believe -- in the Cornerstone Insurance ad on page 31. (Hi, Dave.) I’m surprised that such a good number of you found the hook wrapped around that funny bone. Did it tickle you a bit? At this very moment, it could be tickling John Latterner of Mound, for it is his name that was pulled from the minnow bucket just in the nick of time, in time to get the $10 advantage from this monthly fishhook drawing. Congratulations, Mr. Latterner. Better latter than never. I hid the fishhook in this issue of the Gazette, too. If you find it, drop a line or email to the Gazette telling of its location and sinker to me at Box 387 in Victoria, MN 55386 or Sue@VictoriaGazette.com. I’ll drop you in the minnow bucket till fishing time. In the meantime, though it’s never nice to be mean, maybe I’ll run into you at Fresh Seasons Market in Victoria. With our house remodel project and my kitchen not available to us for a while, we’ve been stopping by the store to make ourselves a salad to bring home in the evenings. Their salad bar is a feast and includes seafood, turkey, ham, and bacon so it sticks to our bones for a while. Simply delicious, not to mention reasonable. |
