To the Editor: Our friend and sister Virginia Stowe entered the more immediate presence of the Lord this morning, April 28th, 2014, at Good Samaritan in Waconia. Please keep her husband Sherman in your prayers. There will be a memorial service for Virginia at Lake Auburn this Sunday, May 4th, with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m, the funeral beginning at 2:00 p.m., and a light lunch afterwards. I have one special request that I had told Virginia I'd pass along to you. I felt it would be appropriate and meaningful -- and Virginia thought it would be fun -- to ask all the women to wear a hat to this service in loving memory and tribute to our own dear "hat lady," Virginia. Pastor Brian Dixon Moravian Church of Lake Auburn
To the Editor: "Friends at the House" is a gathering of St. Victoria men and their friends at the Victoria House. The featured speaker on Saturday morning, May 3rd, is Brian Bonin. As a former NHL player and father of three sons, Brian spoke at this spring's Archdiocesan Men's Conference on the topic of "Men of this World or Men of God: Where are the Sports of Today Leading You and Your Family?" On May 3rd, Brian will share his wisdom and insights with the men of St. Victoria. All men of the parish are invited and feel free to bring your friends. Dads, bring your sons ages 18 or older. Father Bob White, St. Victoria Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: We just wanted to thank all of our customers and friends who have helped us make it to our 11th year in business. We truly value the relationships and the level of trust you have given us. We are continuing to provide electrical services, but we have also branched into solar installations, custom landscape lighting design and installation, and also home automation. We've also seen an increase in the number of generator backup systems we've installed. A generation backup system is a great way to maintain your home's power when the utility system goes down due to a storm or even an overload of the system. We're very excited to announce that Steve Schafer has joined our company. Steve brings many years of landscape lighting design and has worked on many projects here in Minnesota and in Florida. Scott Hunter, Signature Electric Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Keep that Gazette coming, Sue. We always look forward to keeping up with what's going on in Victoria. Thanks for keeping us informed. Bob and Karen Swanson Robertsdale, Alabama
To the Editor: It's the death of a good neighbor. We have lost something truly special in the closing of Fresh Season's, a good neighbor that made a difference and participated in many community functions. We know we share the sentiments of many other patrons in saying Fresh Seasons will be missed. Stan and Jayne Hamerski Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Here's an exciting announcement of another mission opportunity this summer at the Moravian Church of Lake Auburn. We already have three members and a score of folks from Waconia going to Costa Rica. This mission opportunity is in Cuba. The Moravian Church Eastern District has announced an August 2014 mission opportunity in Cuba for youth and young adults ages 16 to 30. They will learn, listen, grow, and engage in cross cultural missions to Cuba August 2nd to 10th. While in Cuba we will take part in an interactive Moravian Church camping program and outreach to a local orphanage. This is our first North American group mission trip to Cuba. Pastor Brian Dixon Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. Mr. John Henson, the National Commander with Veterans of Underage Military Service, wrote me asking for help. I do know that we have some veterans in the area who might fall into this category. Is it possible to put something in the paper to see if these heroes live in the area? You could use me as a point of contact. Bob Ayotte Colonel (retired) U.S. Army colrents@aol.com Chanhassen, Minnesota |
