Do you remember when dropping somebody a line was kind of a big deal? It entailed gathering a sheet of stationery, coordinating envelope, fountain pen and ink well (a ballpoint was second best), and a postage stamp, not to mention good penmanship and a separate sheet of lined paper to place under the stationery so our perfect cursive would be in perfect lines. Today, we can drop lines via email and we scarcely need to gather our wits about us.

Many of you dropped a line telling where the fishhook was hidden last month. As you can see, it was wrapped around the stagecoach of the Wells Fargo ad last month on page 26. Hi, Bob Merrill! And when I dipped into the minnow bucket, I pulled out Marlys Timm of Loretto. Hi, Marlys. I remember that you and Marvin stopped to see my parents one winter down in Texas. Now you get $10 to pay for the extra gas.
