November 2011 |
To the Editor: Last week The Rev. Brian Dixon, our pastor here at Lake Auburn Moravian Church, was in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, for a meeting and was out for a walk. While on his walk, our granddaughter Jamie Thierolf was driving her car and spotted Brian. She pulled over and they had a nice chat. You have to keep in mind that Bethlehem has a population over 70,000 people and is about 1,500 miles from Victoria. Jamie is a senior at Moravian College in Bethlehem. Ron Holtmeier Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: The SouthWest Metro Chamber of Commerce board of directors voted to support the Schools of Eastern Carver County's upcoming technology referendum question, citing benefits to business of a well prepared and wholly educated workforce. The question, which will be on the ballot November 8th, 2011, is asking taxpayers for $1.98 million per year for the next ten years. The dollars generated by the referendum will be used to invest in technology infrastructure, teacher and student devices, and classroom technology. Deb McMillan, President SouthWest metro Chamber Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Well, I looked two times through the Gazette and I could not find that big hook! Leon looked through it once and found it on page 33 in the bottom of the big pumpkin, so he lucked out. I called my daughter in law the evening our Gazette arrived and she was reading her own copy! So, good deal. Carol Maas St. Bonifacius, Minnesota
To the Editor: Please join the SouthWest Metro Chamber of Commerce and other Victoria business leaders for a special orientation for Victoria businesses on November 3rd at 9:30 a.m. at the Victoria City Hall. This meeting will focus on the impact the Chamber has in Victoria in addition to the role it plays in the greater SouthWest Metro Region. It will also spotlight benefits of Chamber membership and provide an opportunity for you to ask questions. Please bring anyone else who might benefit from this meeting. Dale Riley Fresh Seasons Market Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: I love your newspaper and always enjoy reading it when I pick one up in Victoria or at an area grocery store. I would really appreciate it if you can help us get the word out to the local community about the Festival of Trees Event at the Gillespie Center in Mound. Mindy Anderson Victoria Minnesota
To the Editor: I have heard that the group of people listening to our wonderful school superintendent's message has been small. My kids' teachers are excellent. If we do not give a few extra dollars to our schools, we cannot keep up the pace expected in this culture. We need to support our District's initiatives. Today we spend zero dollars on extra technology. It saddens me that some area newspapers are not supporting the upcoming referendum. I am hopeful that Victoria will support the referendum and make a statement about how we value our schools and kids. Thank you for your time. Becky Janes Victoria, Minnesota
