The Victoria GAZETTE |
To the Editor: I live on Marigold Circle in Victoria and am very unhappy about the noise on Highway 5. I plan to write a letter to the mayor and deliver it so she has it by Monday, October 8th. However, I wish to have the letter published as an open letter in the Gazette. Can I email you a copy at this address, Sue@VictoriaGazette.com, and can you get it into the next edition? Thank you. Ron Featherston Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: My brother Reuben passed away last week in Two Harbors, MN. You can put this obituary notice in the paper as he had many friends in the Victoria area years ago. Thanks. Glenn Kirsch Blaine, Minnesota
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. I would like to link your Gazette story, "At Their Front Door," on my website. Is there a specific format for citing your story that you would like? Thanks. Joe Pavelko Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: We would love to see the results of our Bocce Tournament in the paper again this year. I've attached an article and photos for consideration. Keep up the great work on the Gazette. Thanks. Tommy Hutton Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Thanks for publishing the photo of the Masons who celebrated special anniversaries in your October paper. I know you received it late. Also, Michael Johnson is from Victoria. Some of your readers might want to be part of a card shower for Donna Plocher who celebrated her 70th birthday on October 25th: 5427 Gordon Avenue NW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52405. Donna is the wife of Richard (Dick) Plocher. Dick grew up in Victoria and worked for a time in Lenny Koehnen's garage. His folks were Ralph and Ruth Plocher. Dick grew up in the Lake Auburn Moravian Church where they were members. Ron Holtmeier Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: I was surprised to see I won the Hook Line & Sinker contest in the October Gazette, so thanks for the ten bucks. The last time I won something was when Cabin Fever donated t-shirts and hats, winner's choice. I've got both Grumpy Old Men movies. They're like if Al Folden, the former Victoria Postmaster, and Father Elstan Coghill, the former priest at St. Victoria, were teasing one another. My Uncle Jerome would take a fish and sneak up behind his brothers and rub the fish to their noises. It's four years this December 3rd that Jerome was killed walking across the street in Chaska to go to the 7 a.m. Mass at Guardian Angels. He almost got across the street when he was hit. He died about 9 that morning. Stop lights were since added to that intersection and people still don't know the word Stop. When the crosswalk signal gives the pedestrian the chance go across, people in vehicles are still too rude to stop and wait for them. Happy Thanksgiving to the Gazette gang and Gazette readers. Happy birthday, November 1st, to Kathy Kraemer, from one Kathryn to another. Kay Meuwissen Chaska, Minnesota
