To the Editor: Hi, Sue. Love your paper. I do not know if someone told you about a Ride and Drive that Waconia Ford is having at Holy Family Catholic High School on September 7th. It is a fundraiser for them from Ford Motor Co. The school gets so much for every test drive so the more the better. It should be fun for the school and the community and help raise some money. Thank you for your time. Do not know if it is something you would cover. Just thought I'd let you know. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks again, and great job. Ron Wagener, Waconia Ford Waconia, Minnesota
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. I wanted to let you and Allan know about our Nordic Music Festival. Maybe you can make it to the park and listen to some Scandinavian music and have some wonderful Scandinavian pastries and Culvers butter burgers and some lingonberry frozen custard. After your wonderful trip to Scandinavia this summer, it might be fun to bring your camera and reminisce. Sharon Eklund Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: The recent completion of the Hwy 5 in Victoria construction resulted in additional capacity, efficiency, and safety in the area. Along with the construction came traffic impacts, such as lane and road closures. To better understand how you were affected by the construction and how we may minimize this disruption in the future, we'd like your feedback on your experience with the road closures and detours. The survey takes just five minutes to complete. It is confidential. Your responses will be combined with those of others who signed up for Hwy 5 in Victoria construction updates. Thank you. Kay Korsgaard MN Department of Transportation
To the Editor: Thank you for the three articles featuring summer growth 2012 in the September issue of the Gazette -- the photographic progressions of the two enormous construction projects (our new bridge and the sink hole correction), and the completion of the new Southwest Christian High School. Oh, and the fishhook can be identified in the Bertas Funeral Home ad on page 40. Stan Hamerski Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Thanks so much for coming out to our Ice Cream Social. It's always great to see you and Al, and we also appreciated the wonderful pictures in the Gazette last month. Grace and peace. Brian Dixon Moravian Church of Lake Auburn Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. My name is Neva Crocker, and I got your name and email from Rae Ann Vandeputte. She is in charge of coordinating our Girl Scouts Centennial Day of Service. As Communication Chair, I wanted to let you know about an upcoming event that Girl Scouts are organizing to improve local water quality and help ease the burden of fall debris cleanup on city budgets. On October 13th, girls in our area will be raking leaves, distributing door hangers, and marking select storm drains. These activities will raise awareness on the chain reaction that occurs when leaves and grass clippings are allowed to go down storm drains. This debris goes directly into our local watershed and promotes algae overgrowth, depleting oxygen levels in our waterways and making it difficult for fish and other animals to survive. In Victoria, girls will gather in the Baycliffe neighborhood starting at 9:00 a.m. Together they hope to collect 1,200 bags of organic debris, saving the watershed area more than $70,000 in cleanup costs. We would love it if you could get this information into the Victoria Gazette before the event. If you are interested, Rae Ann or I can arrange for you to speak with a few of our girls and leaders about the event and what we hope to accomplish. We would love for you to join us on October 13th. If you are able to attend, please contact me to work out a time and place. Thank you for your consideration. Neva Crocker, Autumn Ridge/Southern Stars Girls Scouts in Easter Carver County
