Candidate Tom Gregory and his wife Teresa.
1) Where did you grow up? "My family moved from Young America to Victoria when I was four years old." 2) What is/was the occupation of your parents? "My parents Marvin and Mary Gregory built, owned, and operated the Victoria Dairy Queen." 3) What is your formal education background? "I graduated from Waconia High School in 1979 and I have a B.A. from Minnesota State University, Mankato, with a major in Elementary Education." 4) What is your occupation and where do you work? If retired, what was your work before retirement? "My wife Teresa and I started Victoria Care Center in 1995 and I give Teresa all of the credit for its success. She is an R.N. and an amazing caregiver. Also, I am a classroom instructor for Safeway Driving School." 5) What would you like to tell us about your family? "I could bore everyone to death and write a book but I truly have a great family. "I have three adult children. Our youngest, Tannis, is a freshman at the University of Northwestern in St. Paul. My other daughter, Taylor, is working as a biology researcher at the University of Minnesota and taking a few more classes before she starts her Chemical Engineering grad program. My son, Tim, is finishing up his Masters of Psychology program and working for Hennepin County Sheriff Stanek's reelection campaign. "Lastly, my wife Teresa -- not only is she beautiful, but she is amazingly talented in so many ways. We have built a wonderful family and life together. I am very blessed." 6) What are some values that you hope to instill in your children or grandchildren? "I hope they all live an honest, hardworking life which includes God and the teaching of Jesus Christ as their guide." 7) When did you move to Victoria and what keeps you living here rather than down the road where there are also 'good people and small town charm'? "I grew up in Victoria and moved away after high school but I returned in 1988 when Teresa and I purchased my grandmother's house. It was a cute little two-bedroom rambler but we turned it into a large 12 bedroom house when we built Victoria Care Center. We have so much history in this house, community, and church, that the thought of leaving would be heartbreaking. Victoria is a beautiful city with all of the lakes, trails, and parks." 8) What have been some of your favorite travel or vacation locations and why? "We absolutely love the barrier islands off the west coast of Florida. I get to fish the inner coastal waterway while Teresa and the kids get to play on the beach." 9) In what ways is church or religion a part of your life? "I have been a lifelong member of the St. Victoria Catholic Church. Sunday Mass is kind of a weekly tune-up to refresh and revitalize my spirit. The two years I spent as a Confirmation teacher was a great experience. Working with former Youth Minister Nick Tofteland truly helped me become a better Christian and Catholic."
