GRAND CHAMPION AT THE MN STATE FAIR. Eddie Worm, son of Leon and Cindy Worm of Laketown Road, and his llama, Estrella, won Grand Champion at the recent Minnesota State Fair for 4H Intermediate Obstacle. This is Eddie's third year in the llama project for 4H, his first year with Estrella who was born on May 21st, 2017. He won the state fair trip through the Carver County Fair. The llama encampment at the State Fair was August 29th to August 31st. .The 4H kids stay in the 4H dorm, affectionately known as the 4H Hilton. On Thursday evening, August 30th, the 4H obstacle and public relations competition took place. Eddie received a grand champion (out of 40 sixth to eighth grade kids from other counties throughout the state) for obstacle and blue ribbon for public relations. Estrella resides at Carlson's Llovable Llama Farm on County Road 10 in Waconia. Eddie visited her every day this past summer. His responsibilities include grooming her and preparing her for the fair by working on an obstacle course at the farm, as well as learning llama facts. Cindy Worm, Chaska, Minnesota
SPECIAL VISITORS AT EMERALD CREST. The llamas came from Carlson's Llovable Llamas located at 8380 Co. Rd. 10 East, Waconia. Rick Carlson owns the llama farm which has over 60 llamas. Rick and one of his staff, Kiley, brought the llamas to Emerald Crest in Victoria in a llama trailer. They brought three generations of llamas! They included a 7-year old grandmother, a 4-year old mother, and a 4-month old baby. I know Rick is very involved with the area 4H kids and the community. He enjoys showing his llamas and educating others about them. The llamas came to Emerald Crest of Victoria on Tues., Aug. 21.

ON LOWE'S LOOKOUT IN NORTH CAROLINA. The St. Victoria Catholic Church brought 36 teens and 10 adults (including Fr. Bob White) to Taylorsville, NC, July 20-28. We had teams who visited community members in nursing homes and soup kitchens, painted decks, worked on landscaping, helped families clean and sort through sheds, ran kids club, and worked on building two houses for Habitat for Humanity. When we weren't serving the Taylorsville community, we were serving each other by making meals for each other, cleaning the church that hosted us, and doing all the meal cleanup. We also had quiet time each day that included private devo time. Each day included a fun outing: Cowboy Church, Waterpark, Lowe's Lookout, and we hosted a community picnic. Each night we also had a gathering time where we had praise and worship, a personal witness from one of the team members, sharing opportunities of where we encountered Christ. Each night ended with church group time where got to dive deeper into the day. It was an incredible week with many opportunities for personal and spiritual growth. New lifelong friends were made and lives were touched. Now our challenge is to bring the mission spirit back to our own community.
