Labor Day.  Monday, September 3rd.  Always the first Monday in September, a federal holiday celebrating the economic and social contributions of workers.  First celebrated in 1882 in New York City.  Celebrated by most Americans today as the symbolic end of summer.

 

School Begins.  Eastern Carver County Schools.  Tuesday, September 4th, for grades 1-12.  (Thursday, September 6th for kindergarten and 1st grade students.)

 

Classic Cars & Concerts.  Wednesday, September 5th, and Wednesday, September 19th.  In downtown Victoria.

 

Grandparents Day.  Sunday, September 9th.  The first Sunday after Labor Day, to honor grandparents.  A secular holiday in the USA and the UK since 1978.

 

City Council Meetings.  Mondays, September 10th and 24th.  City Hall on Stieger Lake Lane.

 

Patriot Day.  Tuesday, September 11th.  The annual observance of September 11th, 2001, to remember those who were injured or died in the terrorist attack on the United States of America, in memory of the 2,977 killed as four planes were hijacked and two flew into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center.

 

Autumn Begins.  Saturday, September 22nd.  Called the fall equinox, it marks the day of the year when the sun crosses the celestial equator, making the day and the night the same length.

 

Salvator Mundi.  Showcasing "Savior of the World" by Mark Balma on Sunday, September 23rd,  at The Blessing House on Church Lake Blvd.

 

Lions Meetings.  Mondays, Septembnd 24th.  The Victoria Lions begin their new season.

Full Moon.  Monday, September 24th.  The moon is fully illuminated as seen from earth.  At Full Moon, the moon and sun are on a line with earth in between, as though the moon and sun are sitting on either end of a seesaw.

 

Lions/Fire Dept Blood Drive.  Wednesday, September 26th.  Co-sponsored by the Victoria Lions and the Victoria Fire Department with the American Red Cross.  This Community Blood drive will be held from 12 noon to 6:00 p.m. at the Lions Pavilion in Lions Park.  Sign up for "Victoria Drive" online at redcrossblood.org or sign up with a Red Cross volunteer when they call, or text Lion Martin Teall at 208-661-7767 for an appointment. 

 

Fall Festival.  Saturday, September 29th, at the Hartman Garden Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

 

Lions Oktoberfest.  Saturday, September 29th, at the new pavilion in Lions Park.  Begins at 4:00 p.m.  Featuring the Minnesota Valley Community Band.

 

Enki's Oktoberfest.  Saturday, September 29th, 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Enki Brewing on Stieger Lake Lane.  Live music.  Two bands.
