The Scoop

at City Hall

To the Editor:

Thanks for your wonderful newsy Gazette.  You do a great ministry for many people.  Thanks for the article on Father Bernardine.  He came to Victoria as I was joining the Benedictine Sisters in St. Paul.  He asked, "Why not the Franciscans in Little Falls, Minnesota?"  Too late.  I was signed up to be a Benedictine.  My brother was at the St. Victoria grade school and went to the Franciscan seminary at Westmont, Illinois.  He decided being a priest was not his vocation.

My dad's name was Francis Hauwiller and his dad was Frank.  How exciting to have a Pope Francis.

You are appreciated.  Peace and Easter Blessings to all.

To the Editor:

The Minnehaha Creek Watershed District's "Weigh In On Clean Water" public outreach effort is coming to a close and we would like to thank everyone who participated.  We value your input and your support of the District's efforts to protect our water resources.

We launched this comprehensive three-month effort in January to seek feedback and guidance from residents and community leaders about clean water issues and the District's role in protecting the watershed's resources.

To this end, we hosted several open houses across the watershed for District residents and a gathering of District mayors, city councilmembers, and senior administrative staff.  We also developed an informal, online survey as an additional channel to gather input from as many people as possible.

We received valuable feedback through all three formats, including strong support for many initiatives and some criticisms.  The next step will be to report what we've learned through this process back to the community.

We'll then pair the information gathered from the community meetings and the online survey with scientific research  and other program-specific data to guide our future decisions and activities.

The input we received will not only provide the MCWD with a better understanding of the issues the communities in the watershed are facing, but will also help us focus our efforts to manage and protect our water resources more effectively.

The information you shared with us will be vital to the District as we prepare for the upcoming open-water season and for strategic planning purposes as we begin working on our next generation, ten-year Comprehensive Water Management Plan.

Thanks again to everyone who participated in this effort.  And please keep in touch.  We are always interested in hearing what you have to say about the District's efforts and how we can do our job better.  Visit www.minnehahacreek.org.

To the Editor:

Good morning.  Would you be able to forward me the article/story entitled "One by One" by Tom Stumpf?  Tom is my cousin and we recently sang together for our Uncle Eddie's funeral.  I heard about his story and would love to read it.  Thank you.

To the Editor:

Hi, Sue.  Keep those wonderful Gazettes coming.  As I have told you, you are my idol as an editor, journalist, and historian, not to mention a dear old friend.

To the Editor:

My husband is a member of the Williams family and we wondered if we could get a copy of the March paper in which the Williams farm is featured.  How would we go about this?  Please let us know.  Thank you.

To the Editor:

We love your paper.  And your beliefs.
