To the Editor:

I am the publisher of a local magazine that is in the community just north of Victoria.  I have heard some good things about the Victoria Gazette.  I wanted to meet you  to see if it would make sense to send advertisers to the Victoria Gazette, for what does not make sense to market to my readers but would to yours.  I office out of Excelsior but can meet where you would like in Victoria if that is best for you.

To the Editor:

I enjoy the paper and the news you print about Victoria, also the stories you print about different families who have lived in Victoria a long time.  The Gazette is a history timeline.  Thank you.

To the Editor:

The Blessing House in Victoria has a dirty little secret.  Well, maybe it's not little.  Or secret.  But it's definitely dirty.

It's our parking lot.  The recent spring thaw has exposed its awful mud, rocks, and ruts.  Generally, no one gives much thought to our parking lot, until they attempt to navigate through the shoe-ruining terrain.  It's even more challenging for our senior and handicapped visitors.  How distressing, since it's the first experience one has at the Blessing House.

We need to pave the lot and now there's some urgency.  We wanted to wait because it's such a big expense, but contractors have informed us that waiting one more season will double the price to pave it because it will require extra prep to get it back into pave-ready conditions.  So we're trusting in the Lord to provide and inspire our supporters and friends to join us in an awesome opportunity.

The Blessing House board members have offered to match donated dollars to finish paving the lot.  This special drive is only in effect until April 30th.  Together we can get that lot finished, flat, safe, clean, and welcoming once and for all.  Please prayerfully consider partnering with the board members on this unfinished "dirty" business.  Even something as mundane as a parking lot can bless those who God brings to our doorstep.

To the Editor:

The Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources announced $2.2 million in disaster relief funding grants to help counties continue their flood recovery efforts.

June 2014 was a record setting month for rainfall in Minnesota.  For the second time in three years, the state experienced historic summer flooding.  What made this heavy rainfall event much more impactful was how widespread the effects were.

Fifty-seven of Minnesota's 87 counties reported damages and impacts from high rains and resulting flooding.  Thirty-seven counties would eventually be included in the presidential disaster declaration.

Soil and water conservation districts are ready to get out and repair the damage done to the local conservation practices to protect the land and the water.  This funding helps make that possible.

To the Editor:

Hi, Friend.  I am writing this notice to you as I am selling my house and moving into an apartment building in Winter Haven.  I cannot take care of my yard work and am relying on my neighbors to do this for me.  I am not getting any younger so I talked this over with the three couples that watch over me.  We all agreed that this is the right move.  My new address is at the bottom of this letter with my phone number.
