Victoria Sidewalks. You might be reminded of the Champs Elysees or the walkways of Orvieto or the canals of San Antonio, but the photographed ambience on this page belongs entirely to the sidewalks of Victoria, Minnesota. Notice that Vic’s Bar and Grill has new pavers and flower boxes while Fresh Seasons Market continues to landscape and beautify with new trees and shrubs. ~S.O.

The Oldest Store. This is a picture of the inside of the old wooden building in Victoria that was known as a hardware store. (It was located in what is currently the parking lot for the Notermann Building.) I’m the little guy with my father Frank. This building also housed the Diethelm and Diethelm first grocery store in Victoria, as I’m told. I bought the building from Schneider and Notermann, Jim and John, in 1954. This picture was taken about 1942 or so. I was ten years old. Whitey Wellens, Davenport, Florida
