To the Editor: In your editorial in the June issue, you present a timely and appropriate column regarding "a lot of bad smells hanging around the White House." Indeed, Solyndra, Fast & Furious, James Rosen, Benghazi, the IRS, Health Insurance, DOJ, Associated Press scandals and cover-ups are certainly not open and transparent as this administration has tried to force feed us. I am hopeful that Americans of all political persuasions will understand and become angry over these arrogant abuses on our Bill of Rights. It takes time for these current issues to metastasize. America has become a frog in a pot of slowly heated water that's about to boil and we don't even know it. You posed the question, "Are you holding your nose? Or are you getting used to it?" I, for one, can smell the stink. Let us not forget 1933, just 80 years ago, when the good citizens of Germany didn't smell the stench of the National Socialist German Workers Party, commonly known as the Nazi party, and, like the frog, they just got used to it. To the Editor: Thank you for heartwarming family pictures published in your online Album. Seeing back our American branch of the family in your paper is always for us an optimist item. You all often are here one of the topics of the family conversations and it usually starts like Benny always says, "En géén nieuws uit Amerika?" Or, what news of America? And then I reply, "I saw and read in Sue's Gazette this, that, etc." Your newest vocabulary word is for me an unknown word. Really, I didn't know the word promontory. But in analyzing it, the part 'mont' -- and I knew that the suffix -oir/e in the French language becomes normally -ory in English. It could be in relation with "mountain-berg, heuval, Hügel, Hill, etc." So you taught me again, Mrs. Sue, and enriched my knowledge. But I still have a question. Why do I miss that calligraphic 'S' in the signature of your editorial? It is missing in your June online paper. Personally, I found this 'S' was a distinguishing feature of the Gazette. Your calligraphic 'S' is so gracious, stylish. In one word, it is your identity, Sue. I deplore its loss. Theofiel Keymis Dilsen, Belgium
EDITOR'S NOTE: The "calligraphic S" has returned to my online editorial.
