To the Editor: We had a lot of fun at the Dessert Auction on Sunday morning, June 22nd, with folks here from Lake Auburn and Waconia Moravian. We raised $850 for the Costa Rica mission trip. Thank you to all of you for your generosity. Pastor Brian Dixon Lake Auburn Moravian Church Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. Sorry I didn't have more of an opportunity to chat with you and Al at Ben's wedding. 400-people gatherings are difficult to get quality time with everyone. Even sorrier I couldn't get anything to you for the June issue of the Gazette. Having just returned from several months in Scotland and having this wedding happening tied me up a bit. My three Gazette fans are bugging me as to my absence on the Gazette pages. July for sure! Mike Wartman Prior Lake, Minnesota Former Resident of Victoria

To the Editor: I am formally announcing my intentions to run for Carver County Commissioner in District 2. I am a longtime Carver County resident who served on the Chanhassen City Council from 2000 to 2004 when I played a major role in developing the city's water system and pushed for construction of a pedestrian trail along Hwy 101. I am a retired U.S. Army Colonel with a distinguished 31-year military career. As county commissioner, I will adhere to the conservative Republican philosophy of controlling taxes and decreasing size of government. My experience and reputation as an Army Public Works Director speak to that purpose. I successfully restructured the agency's workforce and reduced government infrastructure repair costs without adversely affecting performance. My management skills in the field of Public Works have garnered me several awards of recognition and I would intend to use that background and skill set to help guide Carver County government. I would work with fellow commissioners and county employees to constructively look at our county's operational costs, distribution of resources, partnering opportunities with cities and organizations, public safety challenges, and county services, especially programs that affect property values and county resources stability. My wife Cheryl and I are the parents of four adult children, three of whom have served in the U.S. Army. Two remain on active duty. Together the Ayotte children have deployed ten times. I am a VFW and American Legion member, active in the Victoria Lions, a former board member of the Minneapolis Vision Loss Center. I now serve as Vice Chairman of the Beyond Yellow Ribbon Campaign. I also voluntarily speak to students, their parents, and other groups about service in the military. District 2 includes the entire city of Chanhassen as well as Victoria Precinct #1. Bob Ayotte Chanhassen, Minnesota
To the Editor: Thanks for the page on our daughter Stacie and her Healing Horses Therapy. Everyone loves their photo in the paper. I'd like to pick up extra copies if possible. Renee Regep Victoria, Minnesota
