Daylight Savings Time Begins. On Sunday, March 13th, at 2 a.m. clocks are turned forward one hour to Sunday, March 13th, 3 a.m. Sunrise and sunset will be about one hour later on March 13th, 2016, than the day before. There will be more light in the evening.

St. Patrick's Day. Thursday, March 17th. The day is named after Saint Patrick (385-461), the most commonly recognized of the patron saints of Ireland. One of his teaching methods included using the shamrock to explain the Christian doctrine of the Trinity.

Palm Sunday. March 20th marks the beginning of Holy Week. Commemorates the entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem, riding on a donkey and people greeting him with palm leaves.

Spring Begins. Sunday, March 20th. Around March 20th or 21st each year, when sunrise and sunset are about twelve hours apart everywhere on earth. Also called the vernal equinox, it's when the sun sits directly above the equator on its apparent trip northward. Of course, the sun isn't moving; the earth is.

Good Friday. Friday, March 25th. Commemorates the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ on the cross.

Easter Egg Hunt. Saturday, March 26th, at Lions Park in Victoria. 9 a.m.

Easter Sunday. March 27th. The greatest feast day. Celebrates the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Established as the first Sunday after the full moon following the vernal equinox of the northern hemisphere.

City Council Meetings. This month: Monday, March 7th, and Monday, March 21st, 6:30 p.m., at Victoria City Hall on Stieger Lake Lane.
