May Day. Tuesday, May 1st. A traditional day of festivities throughout the centuries. Sometimes May baskets are made and filled with flowers and treats and left at someone's doorstep. The giver rings the bell and runs away.

St. Victoria Rummage Sale. Thursday and Friday, May 3rd (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.) and May 4th (7 a.m. to 3 p.m.). At the St. Victoria Catholic Church on Victoria Drive.

Lake Auburn Rummage Sale. Thursday, Friday, Saturday, May 3rd (8 a.m. to 6 p.m.), May 4th (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.), May 5th (8 a.m. to 12 noon). At the Moravian Church on Co. Rd. #11 N.

Mother's Day. Sunday, May 13th. Celebration honoring mothers and motherhood. An American holiday that also came to be celebrated in other countries.

City Council Meetings. Monday May 14th and Tuesday, May 29th, at 6:30 p.m. at Victoria City Hall on Stieger Lake Lane.

Property Taxes. Due by Tuesday, May 15th. Payments must be marked no later than May 15th . The first half of property taxes are due each year at this time. Total amount paid includes taxes to Carver County, the School District, the City, and other smaller government entities.

Armed Forces Day. Saturday, May 19th. Thanks to President Harry S. Truman, it's a day of national observance to pay special tribute to the men and women of the United States Armed Forces.

Memorial Day. Monday, May 28th. The last Monday in May. A day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service. A federal holiday that originated after the American Civil War.

Full Moon. Tuesday, May 29th. The moon is fully illuminated as seen from earth. At Full Moon, the moon and sun are on a line with earth in between, as though the moon and sun are sitting on either end of a seesaw.
