To the Editor: Thank you, Sue. Great paper! Enclosed is $50, for last year and this year. We send our thoughts and prayers on the passing of your mom. What a beautiful picture and article in your Gazette. She might be gone from your life, but Betty is with you in a new way. Memories are a treasure. May God continue to bless all of you. With love, John and Kathy Oertel, Stillwater, Minnesota
To the Editor: We started receiving the Gazette last year and are enjoying every bit of it! Reading your paper brings back so many memories of Victoria. My dad worked at Thiede's Butcher and Meat Shop in downtown Victoria during the winter months. Thinking about the Thiede's, Butch operated a service station in Hopkins, which myself and twin brother took over. My brother Lenny started Koehnen's Garage in Victoria after World War II. My sister Lorraine married Lloyd Braunworth, who owned Braunworth Equipment and Hardware in Victoria. My sister Della married Paul Hartmann whose dad owned the gas station which, as I recall, was Phillips 66, next to the Victoria Creamery. Della and Paul bought and moved into the house across from Floyd's. You did a story in the Gazette a few years back on Lenny and Ardis at the lake. We purchased his house on Lake Pierson and are enjoying our retirement in wonderful Victoria. Enclosed is a check for another year of the Victoria Gazette. We also enjoy receiving and reading the Gazette when we are down in Arizona. Thanks again. Lester and Pat Koehnen, Lake Pierson/Chaska, Minnesota
To the Editor: Greetings, Sue! Am still enjoying the Gazette. Keeping in touch with back-home since my move to Larkspur, Colorado, last July is important. And, of course, Tom, my brother and cowboy correspondent's column always warms my heart. Enjoying 2019 out here with kids and grandkids immensely. Thank you for every issue of the Gazette. Take care and God bless us all. Barb Rizor, Larkspur, Colorado
To the Editor: Repugnant national media manipulation bombards us daily. Your monthly coverage of local events in the Victoria Gazette is splendid. Thank you for keeping us informed of what is happening or not happening in our community. Enclosed is our subscription continuation check. Stan and Jayne Hamerski, Chaska, Minnesota
To the Editor: First and foremost, we want to say that we are truly sorry to read of your mother's passing. From all of your articles in the Gazette, she sounded like a great person and a wonderful mother. We continue to enjoy getting the Gazette each month and never cease to be amazed at the ingenuity you put into each and every issue. You have a God given talent. Keep up the great work. Your friends, Judy and Jerry Gray, Winsted, Minnesota
To the Editor: You are a special blessing. I look forward to the Gazette each month. I was sorry to hear about your mom. You miss her, as I do mine. Thank you for your article about cruising down the Mississippi on the steamboat and all that you saw. It brought to mind my great grandmother and great grandfather, John and Mary Ann Fahey, who came from County Galway, Ireland, to the port of New Orleans and in 1854 came on a riverboat up the Mississippi to Stillwater, then on to four miles north of Belle Plaine where they homesteaded 320 acres. My paternal grandfather James L. Fahey was the last of nine children. It must have been quite a trip with children, babies, and grandparents and lots of sacrifices and hard work. They were sponsored by the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Bishop Creighton. I wish I knew more. There are still many of us in the area. Sharon Brown, Waconia Township/Cologne, MN
