To the Editor: I wanted to inform the residents of Victoria that the new school referendum will continue to have a huge impact on our homestead tax base. We are in difficult times and we need to cut expenses in our school and work. We should be cutting administration expenses, as business owners and homeowners do when we can't raise taxes to solve a budget problem. Thank you for all you do. Nathan Messer, Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Has the November issue of the Gazette been mailed yet? If so, I did not receive it. Always look forward to receiving your great paper. Bernice Pauly, Chaska, Minnesota
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. Hope you're having a good fall. I think the Gazette has advertised for a Vanderlinde excavation or landscaping. Could you provide a contact? Thanks. Steve Fuchs Victoria, Minnesota
EDITOR: Mark Vanderlinde 952-446-9341 To the Editor: Forgive my delinquent payment for the Victoria Gazette. 'Tis a very favorite newspaper. During my years as a homecare nurse with Public Health, Victoria was in my area, so I knew many residents as some residents were my patients. I'm originally from Dickinson, North Dakota, so needless to say I've been very interested in the activities of your daughter Jenny and her family out in Tioga, North Dakota. I lived in Dickinson when the first oil well came in at Tioga! Needless to say, I've been away from Dickinson many years, although I continue to keep in touch with friends and a cousin whose family is involved in the oil industry. Keep up the good work. I do enjoy reading the Gazette. I often recognize names of people I'd known there, and of course we continue to visit the Victoria House and Fresh Seasons. Gayleen Schmidt, Chanhassen, Minnesota
To the Editor: With open arms we, Chad and Christy Jeurissen, extend our gratitude to everyone for your prayers of healing and heartfelt support for our son Connor who was diagnosed with an operable brain tumor in August 2013. We are blessed to have a faithful community of family, friends, and neighbors who have selflessly given their time, donations, and monetary gifts to insure Connor's Benefit held on October 19th at Vic's Bar & Grill in Victoria was an astounding success. When you see this energetic, fun loving boy and his sweet smile on his Caring Bridge website, please know that we believe it is the direct result of our faithful God's love shining through His people, who are actively demonstrating the healing power of prayer, which is gleaming through Connor's free-spirited laughter being heard while he gets his chemo treatments, giving us hope for a brain tumor free future for our son. You can follow his story at www.caringbridge.org/visit/connorjeurissen. May you feel God's blessing of health and happiness surround each and every one of you, bringing your families closer through the sharing of Connor's heroic story. Chad and Christy Jeurissen, Savage, Minnesota
To the Editor: The Good Samaritan Society of Waconia held a Clergy Appreciation Brunch at Westview Acres last week. More than 50 faith communities come in to serve us and the Lord as they love and give grace and wisdom to the residents here. Folks from Victoria who attended were Pastor Brian Dixon from Lake Auburn Moravian Church, Father Bob White, Deacon Ray Ortman, Mary Moore, and Caroline Schmieg from the St. Victoria Catholic Church, and Pastor Bill Bonner and Pastor Paul Casey from Waterbrooke Fellowship. The Good Samaritan Choir, of which Harriet is part, sang. Some of the Westview residents also participated and I was one of them. It was a well planned luncheon and I was happy to have been there. Harriet and I continue to be pleased with our decision to move from our home in Victoria to Westview Acres. The staff is really great. Soon we will be flying to Pennsylvania to be with our family there for Thanksgiving and then attending our youngest granddaughter's wedding in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, December 7th.
