To the Editor: Hi, Sue. I hope you are enjoying our beautiful autumn-like weather this week. Besides the slow and steady changes in the landscape, something else I've noticed lately (that tells me we're approaching November) is all the signage appearing in front yards for the upcoming elections. I just wanted to tell you that I'm putting a sign in my yard tomorrow for Tom Vogt! Tom is running for city council, and I think he is a top notch candidate for the position. Tom was unanimously appointed by the city council in August 2015 to fill a vacant seat and has done a great job fulfilling his duties and obligations to the City of Victoria this past year. I have attended several city council meeting in this year and always felt when Tom gave voice to a topic at hand, he always offered solid information to back up his thoughts and/or opinions. I feel he is often an excellent "voice of reason" on the city council. Tom has also served on the Planning Commission and the Finance Committee in Victoria for a number of years and has an extensive background in business and city government. For all of these reasons, I strongly support Tom Vogt as a candidate for Victoria City Council. Thanks, Sue, for printing my opinion on this very important matter. Judy Janish Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. I have known Tom Vogt for about 35 year. I worked with him at a large Minnesota Corporation for about 20 of those years and he was a great fellow employee. I consider him an outstanding individual and a great asset to our community. I strongly support him for reelection to the Victoria City Council. We need good leaders like his to run our community. Steve Leighton Long time resident Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. Thank you for writing a very nice article and for bringing extra copies of the Victoria Gazette to the Arboretum for me. Have a great fall. Pete Moe, Director Minnesota Landscape Arboretum Chanhassen, Minnesota
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. Thank you so much for the amazing piece on Pete. Wow! We were thrilled and delighted. I'm sending you information on a fun event that is one of my favorites here at the Arboretum -- the Auxiliary Harvest Sale. Thanks again. I am always here for anything you need. Best to you. Susie Eaton Hopper, Media Specialist Univ. of MN Landscape Arboretum Chanhassen, Minnesota
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. I want to invite you to check out our "old 1850 barn raising project." We're starting Monday, August 29th. We built a stone foundation at the Tree Farm to set the barn on. The barn builder has been re-assembling the old timbers to get them ready to raise on the foundation. These timbers are all hand-hewed from mostly old growth oak logs. These trees to back into the 1600's. They are so cool. If you poked your head up here around 8 a.m., there could be some action of lifting the first beams in place. The crane is here. Jeff Hartman Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. In your next "Picking the Mayor's Mind," could you ask if there is anything going on with a grocery store for Victoria? People keep asking and telling Janney and me the rumors, but we haven't heard or read anything about it for the last few months. Rick Stucki Victoria, Minnesota
