The Victoria GAZETTE |
To the Editor: I am doing some work with Kevin Johnson of the Glencoe Enterprise in Glencoe, MN. We are looking at some surrounding community papers and comparing design, layout, and pricing. Your paper is one we identified and have enjoyed reviewing. Might you be willing to share what you charge for advertising per column inch? Thanks in advance for your help. Kiessa Webster via email
To the Editor: We sure like the paper. Wish I had all of them that you’ve ever printed. I would read them all, and I know that my husband would put them all in a box to read and re-read. We both like the old time stories. Thank you for the Gazette. Keep up the good work. Take care. Elaine Drew, and Harvey, too, Delano, Minnesota
To the Editor: I was just thrilled to find out about winning the Fishhook Contest. Thank you. Colleen Marie Alberti Excelsior, Minnesota
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. I finally found the fishhook on page 10 in the zero (of “40 Years”) on the Hartman Tree Farm ad. I was on my 6th “go-through” and turning a page and I saw it! Whew! I was just about ready to give up on it. Nancy Graumann Rochester, Minnesota
To the Editor: I am the manager for Forestry and Horticulture with Three Rivers Park District. I am writing to let you know about a project that we intend to begin later this year on the property located at 73rd Street and Park Drive within Carver Park Reserve. This parcel was recently acquired by the Park District [from the Bob Hedtke estate] and is slated to be planted to trees and shrubs, in accordance with the master plan for the Park. Based on its location, size, and ease of access, it has been determined that this site would serve well as the new location for the Park District’s Forests Forever plantings. Forests Forever is a program through which people can donate money to have a tree or trees planted within the Park District. Our current location for this program, which is located near the Grimm Farm Historic Site, will be full by the end of this year. To facilitate and protect the plantings at this new location, we will be constructing an 8-foot high woven wire non-electric fence around the perimeter of the proposed planting site. The fence will be completely installed by no later than October 15th, and planting will likely begin spring of 2011. You are being notified as a local resident, and if you have any concerns or questions about the proposed project, feel free to contact me at your convenience. Thanks. Paul Kortebein, Three Rivers Park Manager for Forestry & Horticulture
To the Editor: Holy Family Catholic High School in Victoria hosted its First Annual Relay for Life on August 7th and 8th. The event was coordinated by students and alumna Sara King, who graduated from Holy Family in 2005 and is now working for the American Cancer Society.
