To the Editor: Hi, Sue. This is your old bowling buddy. We love seeing the pictures of your grandchildren. Can’t get over how much Addie looks like Jenny when she was little and Sophie looks like Nick. Congrats on the new one. It’s fun to see Jenny and Nick all grown up with families of their own. All of ours are married with children, also. Just had grandbaby #16 this past year. The circle of life continues for all of us, thank goodness. Take care and keep up the wonderful paper. Mary and John Carse Belle Plaine, Minnesota
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. This is the first time in my life that I have gotten so very active in political issues. I have always paid attention to the debates, read the verbage, and tried to discern who would be the best man for the job during elections. But this year I felt like I needed to do more. That’s how I got involved in the Tea Party organization. It’s not a political party but, rather, a watchdog organization that simply wants to take our country back and try to restore it to the glory we grew up with. Please don’t be offended, Sue, that I am mailing the attached document to you. It’s just that I have read your thoughts and ideals these many years; have seen your quest in the Gazette to try to keep alive the values we grew up with; and I have always had so much respect for your intellect and your strength of character. I feel our country is slipping into socialism faster than we ever dreamed possible. I think of you often. Nancy Maynard Kingston, Tennessee
To the Editor: Hello, Sue. I found the fishhook on page 10 in the Hartman Tree Farm ad. I’m writing because my wife of 62 years passed away on April 29th. Over this time she had won the fishhook drawing twice. Maybe I will be as good as she was. Best regards. John York Waconia, Minnesota
To the Editor: Would you be able to email me the picture and article that appeared in the Victoria Gazette in November of 2009 regarding Chilly Bergan? You had originally emailed me the picture so I could identify the people for you, but I never got to see the article. Thank you. To the Editor: I think I’m late on my subscription. Mailing $20. Sorry for not being on time. Joyce and I enjoy the Gazette. Sounds like you had a great trip out west. Enjoyed reading about it. Keep up the good work. Lowell Noeldner Cologne, Minnesota
To the Editor: One can bring on a harvest of fish guts and give Hartman Tree Farm a good batch of fertilizer. That’s where Ma planted fish guts -- trees, flowers, bushes -- then put a few heavy rocks around to keep the kiddies away. Bill Laumann supplied Mom with fish. Ma supplied him with a pie. His sister Tillie therefore had Ma braid palms at Easter. Tillie didn’t toil on pie baking. The rug-rats head back to class now, making a toil on the teachers. I’m out of school 27 years ago. I wouldn’t want to be in elementary or high school. It’s tough getting old and just as tough being a kid in the 21st century. No, thanks! I saw a Chaska kid and former Chaska neighbor, Tommy Welter. His Ma, Mutchie, lived down the street from us. His wife Laura was a Victoria kid. His brother Jerry tore down Mutchie’s place and built a new house. When I go in my power chair, it looks like a whole new city with Bill Schalow’s field made into houses. It doesn’t look at all the same on that corner we lived on, East 6th Street, for 50 years, from 1954 to 2004. Built our house. Oh, yes, the fishhook was hidden in the Hartman Tree Farm ad on page 10.
